Instructions for Direct Stamping
- Prepare the lens by the "release assist" technique and place the lens
over the stamped image.
- Rotate the lens to get lines or a linear look on the AZ stamped background.
- Slowly rotate the lens so that the lines become wider and wider.
- Keep moving the lens slowly until the lines disappear. (If you rotate too
far the lines will reappear. Reverse the rotation and try again, it gets
easier with practice).
- Hold the lens firmly in place with one hand and remove the release assist
film from the top with the other hand.
- Press down at top to contact the adhesive and continue as outlined in the
release assist technique.
A variety of stamps can be stamped directly over AZ stamped backgrounds to
obtain card designs. The AZ stamp may be inked with sponges, mini-ink pads
or any other inking method. Align the lens to create colored lines that move
rather the than come and go. Vary the line width with lens alignment.
The 'Thanks' example illustrates a direct stamping technique used to make
background colors come and go.
- A large AZ stamp is brayered with a Rainbow (Kaleidacolor - Creolespice) dye pad and stamped onto Glossy White
paper to make a background of fine lines.
- 'Thanks' word stamp (Verses Rubber Stamps) is inked (black Ancient Page) and stamped directly onto the
background.
- The flower (Hero Arts) is inked with the Kaleidacolor Creolespice pad and randomly stamped directly on the background.
- An AL 45 lens is then applied using the release assist technique (and the release film saved from the previous Active Image paper examples. Lens alignment is critical to achieve the "come and go effect". If alignment is not exact, a 'shimmer' look or color bands appear that move when the card is flexed.
