The Project of the Month for June prepares you for the 4th of July and a patriotic theme featuring Active Image printed paper and die cuts.
Note: Cards made with Active Image paper exhibit a unique 3 dimensional appearance that cannot be captured on web site pictures. If you are not familiar with this effect, imagine the lined images as appearing to be recessed one to two inches behind the card.
Card #1
Stamps, Papers and dies Used:
-- Stars Rubber Stampede A 1055C
-- Small Fireworks Stamp It A 732
-- God Bless America Stamp It B1443

-- Star die Ellison Crafts Sizzix
#38-0154
Other supplies:
-- Poppy Red and Ultramarine Impress
ink pads Tsukineko
-- Repositional glue
Instructions:
- Use Sizzix (or other large punches) to cut assorted sizes of desired shapes from the AI printed paper.
- Position the shapes on glossy cardstock with a small amount of repositional glue. Be sure all the lines are vertical (horizontal if you plan to apply the lens horizontally).
- Place the lens sheet over the shapes to check the appearance of the of the Active Image lines. You can turn the die cut images to make the lines wider or narrower as you desire. (Wider gives greater 3D effect, narrower is an esthetic option).
- When all the images are aligned to your satisfaction, lift the lens and stamp images and words directly on the card. Remove the liner from the lens and adhere vertically (horizontally if you aligned the die cuts horizontally the lens on the example was aligned vertically).
- Turn the card over and press out the excess air around the die cuts using a bone folder. Halos may be observed around the die cuts. If you wish to eliminate the halos, use a dry embossing of fine tip tool to work around the edges to remove the halos.
- Punch holes in the lens with a Pro Punch (or leather punch) and attach brass star brads.
- Edge the card with a gold metallic pen and layer it onto red, white, and blue card stock. When you finish stand up and sing the Star Spangled Banner in honor of this great country!
